Astrology is not astronomy; however throughout most of its history it was considered a scholarly practice in academic study together with alchemy, meteorology, and medicine. It was cited in various works of literature, from Dante Alighieri and Geoffrey Chaucer to William Shakespeare. However, only during the 20th century and following the wide-scale adoption of the scientific method, astrology has been discredited to have no scientific validity or helpful power. Astrology lost its academic and theoretical standing, and common belief in it has largely declined. Though, people worldwide check their horoscopes each and every day. Horoscopes are believed to have originated with the ancient Greeks. The word horoscope literally means - watcher of the hour. The problem with this is that it turns into a kind of fatalism. While some people still continue to believe that star and planet positions affect their lives, astrology is now recognized as pseudoscience.
When Babylonians first created the astrological zodiac three thousand years ago, they recognized 13 constellations, but chose to narrow it down to 12 to fit the 12-month calendar. However, NASA recently stated that the Earth's axis moved and the position of constellations have changed. That means the Babylonian astrological calendar that we love and follow so dearly is even less accurate than we thought. They suggested that the dates that determine the zodiac signs had shifted by about a month, but clarified on the astrological signs and made it clear that nothing has changed. We're still the same sign we've always been. Traditionally, Astrology is the study of the movements and positions of celestial objects as a means for predicting information about human affairs and other events.
What does God say about horoscopes, astrology, and predicting the future? Isaiah 47:13 –“You are wearied with your many counsels; let them stand forth and save you, those who divide the heavens, who gaze at the stars, who at the new moons make known what shall come upon you.” In short, God condemns the use of astrology and horoscopes for many reasons. For one thing, God alone knows the future. However, one might get confused here. How about the angel of stars - Kokabiel? He is a fallen angel of the 20 Watcher leaders of the 200 fallen angels. His name means a star of God. In the Book of Enoch, Kokabiel taught astrology to his allies. I guess it is a matter of your personal preferences to believe in horoscopes or not.
The other fascinating subject to consider which relates to this picture is the gender equality of angels. Who are the angels? Are they all men or there are women there as well. There is no doubt that every reference to angels in Scripture is in the masculine gender. But, God does not tell us why angels appear as male in the Bible. Angels do not have gender since gender is a biological function, and angels have nothing to do with biology and procreation. Angels are celestial spiritual beings who have intelligence, emotions, and will. Angels are spirit beings without true physical bodies. People will never become angels after they die. Angels will never become, and never were, human beings. Angels are spiritual beings that can somewhat take on physical form. Humans are only physical beings, but with a spiritual aspect. Angels are an entirely different set of being than humans. Their appearance, sometimes male or female, is in the visions of prophets and depends largely on the prophet personality and preferences.
